Névache and Val-des-Prés

Enchanted Valley

In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes region, on the French-Italian border, the Clarée valley represents over 20,000 hectares of pure nature.

Scattered throughout the Clarée Valley are two charming towns, Val-des-Prés and Névache. These villages and their hamlets offer a taste of authentic rural life and wide-open spaces for outdoor activities.

Designated a natural site, the Clarée Valley is a haven for those seeking the tranquility, beauty, and gentle charm of a vibrant mountain landscape. Its crystal-clear rivers, high-altitude lakes, forests, and villages with their wooden houses create a unique atmosphere.

Well-known for its many mountain lakes, the upper Clarée valley also offers magnificent peaks at over 3000 m altitude. This is how you can climb one of the most beautiful and accessible summits in the Hautes-Alpes: Mont Thabor.

Just across the Italian border, discover the Vallée Étroite. Running parallel to the Clarée Valley, this valley is French on paper but Italian at heart. The Vallée Étroite offers a taste of Italy without even crossing the French border.

Located between Briançon and the foothills of the Queyras, the Izoard region is home to a collection of quaint villages and sweeping views.

The villages of Cervières, Villard-Saint-Pancrace, Puy-Saint-Pierre, and Puy-Saint-André embody this spirit.

Located between the Col de l’Izoard and Briançon–Serre-Chevalier, these charming villages are steeped in military and religious history, but above all in rural heritage.

Gentle slopes, mountain pastures, forests, and legendary mountain passes come together here, inviting you to explore on foot, by bike, or on snowshoes, depending on the season.

The Col de l’Izoard, meanwhile, is an iconic Alpine route, well known for its frequent appearances in the Tour de France, but it’s also a spectacular gateway to the Queyras!
