Setting off with the sled dogs Snow treks
Are you an animal lover and fan of dogs with thick coats, or just keen to discover an original means of transportation with a long tradition?
Numerous excursions and dog sled rides are available throughout the Hautes-Alpes as soon as the snow settles, and the wild and unspoiled Clarée Valley offers a particularly suitable setting for these rides.
For dog lovers
Composed of 6, 8, or 10 dogs depending on the effort required, sled dog teams are a dream for those who love plump, well-trained dogs. All trained for generations to guide sleds through the thickest snow, the breeds that make up the teams vary from one team to another.
For example, you will encounter Alaskan Malamutes, Greenland dogs, Siberian Huskies, Samoyeds, and Canadian Eskimo dogs. All these dogs have coats adapted to winter conditions, some with very long hair, others with very short hair.
These outings are also moments of communion with the dogs, with a little time to get to know each other and enjoy a few caresses (if you ask the musher, of course). The mushers also offer winter and summer tours of the sled dog park.
