THE BRIANÇONNAIS

The Briançonnais is the perfect blend of historical heritage and unspoilt environment. The region offers a wide range of sporting, cultural and natural activities. Briançon, a city of art and history, is world-renowned for its UNESCO-listed Vauban fortifications. A masterpiece of mountain military architecture, Briançon has a unique charm all of its own. The Pont d'Asfeld, the Place d'Armes and the Gargouille are among the city's most emblematic landmarks.
Emblematic passes such as the Col du Lautaret, the Col du Galibier and the Col de l'Izoard are an integral part of the region's landscape.
Briançon Serre Chevalier
the largest resort in the southern alps
The various ski resorts of Serre Chevalier, which has the Famille Plus label, are part of the "Serre Chevalier Vallée Briançon" ski area, which includes Briançon, Puy Saint André, Puy Saint Pierre, Chantemerle (Saint-Chaffrey), Villeneuve (La Salle Les Alpes) and Le Monêtier-Les-Bains.
The resort boasts 410 hectares of skiable terrain, including high mountains, larch forests and play areas.
Montgenèvre
on the Italian Italian border
The resort, which today offers 85 km of downhill ski runs, was once just a mountain pasture village with Les Alberts as its center. Montgenèvre became a fully-fledged ski resort on February 11, 1907. It is one of the most important resorts in the Southern Alps. It is now part of the French-Italian Voie Lactée ski area.

The resort is marked by its military history, as a strategic crossing point between France and Italy, the Montgenèvre pass is surrounded by high forts such as Fort du Chaberton and Fort de Janus. It also boasts a rich religious heritage, with many pilgrimages passing through here, including the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.

This is one of France's most isolated valleys, but one that has managed to preserve the purity of its landscapes and the uniqueness of its villages.
Eight village resorts offer a wide range of activities in summer and winter alike. Crafts have a special place, from woodworking and lacemaking to cheese and charcuterie production. The villages of Saint-Véran, Château-Queyras and Mont Dauphin are must-sees, as is Guillestre in the heart of the historic ramparts.
