In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, on the French-Italian border, this destination represents over 20,000 hectares of pure nature.
Along the banks of the Clarée are two pretty communes, Val-des-Prés and Névache. These villages and their hamlets offer authenticity and wide-open spaces for your outdoor activities.

Vallée Étroite Une Vallée franco-italienne
The Vallée Étroite is a Franco-Italian valley , attached to the commune of Névache by the peace treaty of 1947.
Parallel to the Clarée valley, this valley is French on paper, but Italian at heart. Indeed, it's hard to feel French in a place where Italian is spoken and eaten. It's true thatthe few inhabitants are often not French but Italian, and to make a phone call in the Vallée Étroite, you have to dial the Italian prefix .The Vallée Étroite is a trip to Italy without even crossing the French border.
Le charme de la vallée Etroite est comparable à celui de la Clarée. Avec cette vue sur le mont Thabor, ces lacs d’altitude, laissez-vous emporter le temps d’une randonnée entre Italie et France !
Until 1968, there was no direct road link to France. That same year, the Col de l'Echelle road was inaugurated, linking the Vallée Étroite to its adopted valley, La Clarée.
