Classic ski touring itinerary starting from Névache. This outing is physically demanding due to its length and altitude difference. From the col, beautiful panoramic views open up on the Queyrellin ridge, the Colette...

Description

From Névache, follow the Haute Clarée road until you reach the Chapelle Sainte Barbe.
Turn left towards the Rately bridge, then follow the Clarée until you reach Fontcouverte and La Fruitière.

A signpost points the way to the refuge du Chardonnet, and the trail is often packed with hikers and refuge wardens.

This part of the climb takes 1h15 to reach the refuge. If the refuge is open, it is also possible to eat and drink there (please book in advance for meals).

Continue up past the Lac du Châtelard, which is snow-covered at this time of year, and then begin the last part of the ascent to the pass.

Complément accueil

The Ville Haute parking lot is often saturated during peak periods. Prioritize the Roubion parking lot (20 minutes more to reach Ville Haute).

In view of the avalanche risk, we strongly recommend that you wear full safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe).

Ski touring is a risky activity, and all skiers are responsible for their own safety.

It is therefore strongly recommended to hire a mountain guide to supervise outings in unmarked and unsafe areas.

It is also advisable to prepare your outing well in advance: consult the BRA (Bulletin d'Estimation du Risque d'Avalanche), check the inclination of slopes on the Géoportail slope map to avoid itineraries on slopes of over 30°, and check with the guide office to find out whether conditions are favorable.
