The disheveled ladies of Sachas
Puy-Saint-André
These beautiful, windswept fairy chimneys are located in the commune of Puy-Saint-André. On the Ravin des Merles hiking trail, they can also be seen from the national road.
Description
Fairy chimneys are the result of erosion: made up of loose sand and gravel, with blocks of all sizes, the surrounding moraines have been eroded over time, with some parts resisting erosion, forming these strange columns rising toward the sky.
In the case of the Sachas fairies, they no longer wear their “hats”: a rock that is more resistant to erosion, which is precisely what allows these columns to form.
