In Villard-Saint-Pancrace, numerous peasant mines, small coal mines with an operation and organization specific to our region, were exploited until the 1960s. The one known as the Cabane is the only one that can be visited.

Description

The landscape and village of Villard-Saint-Pancrace are marked by the past of these peasant miners. You can still see many of the remnants of this past on the Bois du Villard hiking trails.

The Mine de la Cabane is the only mine that can be visited (on guided tours). By the light of a lamp, wearing a helmet, you will enter the gallery to witness the working conditions of the peasant miners.
