Guided tour of the former Combarine mining site with certified tour guides from the Briançon Heritage Department

Description

Coal has been mined in the Briançon region since the 18th century. The Combarine mines, in the town of Puy-Saint-Pierre, were the largest in the region. Originally small-scale farms with haphazardly dug tunnels, they were industrialized in the early 20th century and remained in operation until 1962. Accompanied by a tour guide, follow in the footsteps of the peasant miners as you explore the slag heaps of these mines, which shaped both the landscape and local attitudes.
