A sporty and attractive snowshoe hike. The route passes through a larch forest before reaching the snow-covered village of Les Ayes, then continues on to Plan Peyron and the Canadian-style Lac de l'Orceyrette.

Description

Park in the Centre Montagne parking lot. Then leave the parking lot and follow the signs for "Les Ayes", taking the street slightly to your right and starting to climb.

Continue on the snow-covered road, which is closed to traffic. After a few hairpin bends, the road climbs quietly through the forest to the hamlet of Les Ayes.

After Les Ayes, continue on the track towards Plan Peyron.

At Plan Peyron, continue straight on for about 2 km to the lake weir.

Return by the same route.

Lac de l'Orceyrette is a popular spot for photographers. Outside winter, it's also a film location for the Alex Hugo series. The area is also home to a number of remarkable bird species, including the European Pygmy-Owl, Tengmalm's Owl and Black Grouse.

Complément accueil

Certain parts of the Bois des Ayes Natura 2000 site are protected areas with specific regulations, and the law provides for fines in the event of infringement. In particular, the Bois des Ayes reserve aims to protect the nesting grounds of woodpeckers, nocturnal birds of prey and black grouse.

The site is open to all, but don't forget to follow a few recommendations:

- Stay on marked trails
- Keep your dog on a leash
- Behave discreetly
- Photograph flowers and animals from the paths
- Leave stones in their place
- Do not light fires
- Bring back your garbage

Because of the risk of avalanches, we strongly recommend that you wear full safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel).
