The Jardin alpin du Lautaret is a century-old jewel showcasing plants from every mountain in the world. It's undoubtedly one of Europe's finest high-altitude botanical gardens, and a mecca for science!

For more than 100 years, this garden has been dedicated to showcasing the diversity of mountain plants from around the world, and boasts a vast collection of 2,000 species of mountain flowers in an exceptional landscape setting overlooking the Meije glaciers.

Founded in 1899, the Jardin alpin du Lautaret is a testament to the University of Grenoble's century-long passion for Alpine flora.

The richness of the collections and the rock gardens integrated into the landscape make this high-altitude garden one of a kind.

From America to Asia, from Europe to Africa, from South America... to the poles. More than 2,000 species of plants from the world's mountains that thrive in the harsh Alpine climate can be discovered in a maze of reconstructed environments that change year after year.

Far from being a traditional botanical garden, you're invited to take an 80-minute trip around the world!

Each step takes you to a new continent, on a botanical and dreamlike world tour. Wind your way through streams, pontoons, ponds, reconstructed environments, natural meadows, a historic chalet, century-old trees and a bird kiosk....

The Jardin du Lautaret is also a CNRS and Université Grenoble Alpes research station, welcoming dozens of research teams from all over the world every year. Scientists come to study the consequences of climate change and practices (tourism, agriculture, etc.).
