Hikes to discover the lakes and peaks in the country of La Meije with the Hotel le Faranchin

With this life-size hiking stay, a change of scenery is guaranteed! Between Massif des Ecrins and the Oisans mountains, the Haute Romanche valley is the playground of this trip. Thanks to your guide, you will discover a very alpine environment.

Description

The Haute Romanche valley is one of those mythical places where man still comes face to face with unspoilt nature on a daily basis. Sabrina and David from Hôtel le Faranchin are delighted to invite you to discover their beautiful region. Each day will be exceptional, thanks to the beauty of the landscape and its natural riches.

This trip is designed for seasoned hikers with mountain experience. Able to hike 5 to 6 hours and up to 900m of positive ascent per day.

Day 1: arrival
You'll arrive at 3pm to settle in.
Presentation of your stay over a convivial aperitif with your guide and Sabrina.

Day 2 :Lac de Combeynot 2455 M / New 2026
Lac de Combeynot 2455 M / New for 2026: Themes: the Ecrins National Park, the great history of national parks and protected areas, the life and habits of the chamois.

Departure: 8:30 am (transfer by vehicle to Boussardes parking lot - 14 km).

A round trip that will take us first through a beautiful larch forest before discovering a mineral cirque where chamois can be spotted.

Cruq des Aiguilles circuit 2707 M / Lac du Goléon 2455 M
Circuit du Cruq des Aiguilles 2707 M / Lac du Goléon 2455 M : Thematic focus: everything you need to know about high-altitude lakes and water management in the mountains.

A little-frequented circuit for the Cruq section, with breathtaking views of the Meije and its glaciers.

Departure: 8:30 a.m. (vehicle transfer to Valfroide parking lot, 9 km).

Les Vallons de la Meije - Brèche Pacave - Téléphériques des glaciers de la Meije Thematic focus: evolution and use of glaciers - climate , history of the Meije and mountaineering

Departure: 8:00 am (vehicle transfer to La Grave - 3 km).

This transition day is dedicated to discovering the Meije and its glaciers. We climb up to the Col des Ruillans 3211 M via the Meije cable cars. An opportunity to learn about the evolution and use of glaciers. Possibility of visiting the ice cave. Followed by a descent on foot via the Brèche Pacave 2836 m to the intermediate station at 2400m. Return by cable car.

Day 5: Tour of Combeynot and Lac du Glacier d'Arsine 2450 M
Le tour de Combeynot et lac du Glacier d'Arsine 2450 M : Thematic focus : Livestock and predators , A marmot's life , Life of a mountain stream

Hiking departure: 8:00 am (travel by vehicle to the Col du Lautaret / beforehand we will have left a vehicle at the arrival point to pick up the drivers). We start the hike on the crevasse trail. The view is superb: Meije and Barre des Écrins dot this section. This balcony trail will take us back to the GR54.

We continue on to Lac du Glacier d'Arsine, probably with a detour to a little jewel, Lac de l'Etoile... After our lunch break, we descend to Le Casset along the turquoise-blue meanders of the Béous d'Arsine. The finish of one of the most beautiful runs in our region takes place under a beautiful larch forest.

Day 6:Summit day hike / Pointe de Tête Noire 2846 m
Day hike for a summit / Pointe de Tête Noire 2846 m Thematic focus: large birds of prey, flora of the Alpine and Nival stages.



Departure: 8:30 am (transfer by vehicle to parking lot 2520 m - 11 km).

This wild trail is the perfect way to round off your stay, with access to a summit offering a 360° panorama. Part of our route will be off-piste on easy terrain. Ibex and large birds of prey may be spotted.
