Goléon lake
From the Goleon Lake, you'll have breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers and of the peaks of La Meije, Aiguilles d'Arves and Aiguilles de la Saussaz.
Description
Go around the lake on the left bank, then head towards the Aiguilles d'Arves to reach the Amont plateau, covered with inscriptions made with stones.
The Goléon refuge is located on the edge of the lake.
This is an easy hike that can be done with children who are good walkers.
If you're lucky, you may spot marmots, ibex and griffon vultures, not to mention butterflies and alpine flowers!
The Goléon marsh is a very rare and fragile environment in Europe, found mainly in the far north. It is one of the most beautiful formations in the Alps and is home to highly sensitive protected species. It is therefore important to avoid moving the stones in the marsh, as this can disrupt the flow of water and crush small plants and insects that are very important for biodiversity!
