The Chamoissière and Alpe de Villar d'Arène mountain refuges on ski touring
In the heart of the Alpe valley, this ski touring route offers a gradual immersion into a high-mountain atmosphere. An accessible outing that also allows you to discover the experience of spending a night in a mountain refuge in winter.
Description
From the Villar d'Arène Nordic ski area parking lot, head towards the Pas d'Anna Falque, taking care not to ski on the cross-country ski trails, until you reach the end of the Nordic ski area.
Continue along the Romanche until you reach the Colombier stream, then fork slightly to the left, avoiding Les Combes, until you reach the Chamoissière and Alpe de Villar d'Arène refuges.

Complément accueil
Because of the risk of avalanche, we strongly recommend that you wear full safety equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe).
Ski touring is a risky activity, and all skiers are responsible for their own safety.
It is therefore strongly recommended to hire a mountain guide to supervise outings in unmarked and unsafe areas.
It is also advisable to prepare your outing well in advance: consult the BRA (Bulletin d'Estimation du Risque d'Avalanche), check the slope inclination on the Géoportail slope map to avoid itineraries on slopes of over 30°, and check with the guide office to find out whether conditions are favorable.
