Sports loop around the Haute Romanche

Description

Cross Villar d'Arène, towards Pied du Col,
make a loop via the Pas de l'Âne and the bottom of the Gravière to soak up the atmosphere at the foot of the glaciers.
Back at Pied du Col, climb towards Les Cours and Lac du Pontet.
At the lake, take the balcony path leading to l'Aiguillon, then down to Valfroide, les Hières and Ventelon.
From Ventelon, climb (steeply) to the right at Clos, then cross to the left over steep balconies.
On the piste de l'oratoire, turn right under the Signal chairlift, cut across to the Plagnes ski lift, and return to the snack bar and Chazelet.
Take the GR down through Les Terrasses and La Grave.
At La Grave, descend to the Romanche and head for Villar d'Arène on the Vernois path, which runs along the left bank of the Romanche.
