Description

Just a 10-minute walk from the arrival of the Glaciers de la Meije cable car, it's a wonderful discovery for everyone. The ice cave is only open in summer. In fact, the cave lies under meters of snow in winter.

It descends by 24 m per year, arriving on a flat part of the glacier, which puts it under compression: the galleries close in, the sculptures become deformed and the cave tends to tilt, reducing the slope inside and limiting the evacuation of water seeping through the crevasses. Working with nature means adapting!
