This via ferrata, located in the foothills of the Meije massif and at the entrance to the Ecrins National Park, is pleasantly shaded in summer. It's not a very difficult route, but it can still present some aerial and athletic passages.

The via ferrata is ideal for beginners who want to familiarize themselves with the void, as it has an escape route halfway along the route.
Its position in the foothills of the Meije massif guarantees cool temperatures in summer, on the banks of the Romanche river.
The first section, some twenty meters long, will warm up your fingers before you tackle the via's most beautiful passage: the ascent of a fairly steep pillar. A slab leads up to the left-hand edge of a fine ridge. This leads to a grassy ledge, with an escape route to the right.
The second part climbs a nice slab over a roof and ends with a less steep spur. The last few metres of the via ferrata are in the realm of vertiginous hiking, allowing you to appreciate the view of Les Agneaux.
The descent is well marked (30 minutes).

Take in the breathtaking mountain scenery of Villar-d'Arène in Haute-Romanche. Nearby, in La Grave, the Queen Meije cable car takes you up to the glaciers in 40 minutes!
