Ice climbing is a fascinating and special activity.
Is it an art? It's all about reading the ice, a living material, interpreting its shapes and colors to find your way, anchoring your crampons and ice axes with strength or delicacy, and protecting your rope wisely. The ice climber evolves in a fairytale world, equipped with the right equipment and the right physical and moral qualities, in a winter mountain environment.
In our Romanche valley and the Oisans massif, there are many icefalls: over 600 are listed, with all levels of difficulty.
Today at La Grave, this fantastic activity is well established, renowned and accessible to anyone in good health. Our guides, whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned climber, will take you close to the village on some of the valley's most beautiful itineraries: “La Colère du Ciel”, “Caturgeas”, “Orgasme”, “Les Moulins”, just a few of the many great routes!
