The loop from La Grave to Villar d'Arène

This magnificent trail alternates between the banks of the Romanche and the undergrowth of the Bois de la Chal d'Outre. Start from La Grave, opposite Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church.

Description

The route begins by descending the small road from the Meije campsite, before gradually winding through the forest in the Bois de la Chal d'Outre, as far as Villar-d'Arène. After crossing the Romanche river, the route reaches the heart of the village, then takes the path on the left behind the cemetery. It then continues until you find the track leading back to the starting point.

ATTENTION: The path linking Villar d'Arène to La Grave via the Romanche (lower path) is closed following the collapse of part of the road. The Ecrins National Park has not yet announced a date for its reopening. Access from the top (Les Vernois) is possible.
